Washington College Men Win Five Races During Weekend
(November 14) - Washington College's men's team ended the fall season on a high note, winning five races over the weekend. The Shoremen's "A" and "B" varsity fours and novice four all won at Saturday's Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta and the "A" varsity four and novice four won again the next day at the Bill Braxton Memorial.
Four MARC Schools Brave "Snowtober" at Head of the Schuylkill
(October 31) - While Saturday's racing at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia was cut short, four MARC schools - Marietta, Frabklin & Marshall, Rutgers-Camden, and Richard Stockton - did compete in the morning races held in wintry conditions. Two MARC boats finished in the top half of their respective races with Marietta placing eighth of 28 boats in the women's college frosh novice eights and Franklin & Marshall placing 12th of 29 boats in the men's open club eights.
Three MARC Schools Compete at Head of the Charles
(October 24) - Bryn Mawr, Marietta, and Washington College competed at the world's largest rowing regatta, the Head of the Charles, over the weekend. Bryn Mawr edged Washington for 10th place in the collegiate women's fours, Marietta finished 12th in the collegiate women's eights, and Washington was 30th in the collegiate men's eights.
Washington College Novice Women, Lightweight Men Win at Occoquan Chase
(October 17) - Washington College turned in strong performances at the Occoquan Chase Sunday, highlighted by the Shorewomen's novice four winning its race and the Shoremen's lightweight four capturing first place in its race.
Bryn Mawr, Marietta Open Fall with Strong Performances
(October 10) - Bryn Mawr and Marietta opened their fall regatta schedules with strong performances. Marietta won the women's novice eight and took second in women's varsity eight and women's second varsity eight at William Smith's Challenge on the Canal Saturday. Meanwhile, at the Navy Day Regatta in Philadelphia, Bryn Mawr's "A" boat finished fifth of 17 boats in the women's collegiate four, beating five Division I boats in the process.
North Park Opens Fall with Second-Place Finish
(October 6) - North Park became the first MARC school to compete this fall, hosting the North Shore Challenge on Sunday. The Vikings finished second in the varsity eight and third in the varsity four.
Marietta Competes at NCAA Division III Championships
(May 27) - Marietta represented the MARC and the Mid-Atlantic Region at the NCAA Division III Championships in Lake Natoma, CA. The Pioneers, who received an at-large eight bid, were fifth in their opening heat and sixth in the repechage.
Marietta Wins Gold at Dad Vail Regatta, Bryn Mawr Reaches Final
(May 16) - Marietta's women's varsity eight, not resting on its selection to the NCAA Division III Championships, won gold in the women's Division III event at the Dad Vail Regatta on Saturday. Bryn Mawr took sixth in the women's Division II/III varsity four.
Marietta Headed to NCAA Division III Championships!
(May 10) - Marietta College's varsity eight has received an at-large eight bid to the NCAA Division III Championships, to be held May 27th and 28th in Gold River, Calif.
Washington College Wins Women's, Men's 2011 MARC Championships;
Harris, Leekley Named Coaches of the Year
(April 30) - Washington College won its second straight men's championship and second women's championship in three years at today's MARC Championships regatta at Gifford Pinchot State Park. Washington took first place in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight on the men's side and won the second varsity eight and took second in the varsity eight on the women's side of the regatta. 2011 MARC Championships Schedule & Lane Assignments Now Posted
(April 27) - The schedule and lane assignments for the 2011 MARC Championships, to be held this Saturday at Gifford Pinchot State Park, have now been posted. This year's regatta will feature a new scoring format with the men's and women's champions determined by results of the varsity eight and second varsity eight races. On the men's side, Washington College is the defending conference champion, but will face a challenge from Franklin & Marshall. Mary Washington is the defending conference champion for the women, but Washington College enters the regatta as the top-ranked team in the region.
Rutgers-Camden, F&M Impress in Final Tune-Ups for MARC Championships
(April 25) - Franklin & Marshall's women made a splash on Friday, finishing second in a varsity eight race against four Division II schools. The Diplomats edged out Mercyhurst, winners of the varsity eight gold medal at last year's NCAA Division II Championships. On Saturday, Rutgers-Camden won both the varsity four and frosh/novice four in a dual regatta against in-state MARC rival Richard Stockton.
Marietta Women Advance to Final at SIRA Championships, North Park Women Win Two Races at North Shore Invitational
(April 18) - This past weekend was a successful one for the MARC's two westernmost schools. Marietta's women's varsity eight advanced to the final and finished sixth in the club/Division II/Division III event at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships held this weekend in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Meanwhile, North Park won the women's novice eight and varsity four "B" race at the North Shore Invitational in Chicago. Other results included Rutgers-Camden placing second in the men's varsity four at the Kerr Cup and Franklin & Marshall's women having little trouble with Bryn Mawr.
Washington College Women Win "MARC Varsity 8 Preview" at Knecht Cup
(April 11) - Six of the eight MARC women's teams raced against each other in the Division III women's varsity eight Saturday at the Knecht Cup and it was Washington College who came out on top, followed by Marietta in second and Mary Washington in third. Washington's men had their men's varsity pair advance to the grand final, finishing fifth. Rutgers-Camden, meanwhile, had a great deal of success racing fours at Knecht Cup. The Scarlet Raptors took second in the Division III women's varsity four (Marietta was third and Richard Stockton sixth), third in the Division II/III men's varsity four, and sixth in the men's frosh/novice four grand final.
Marietta Women's Varsity Eight Narrowly Defeats Mary Washington at Occoquan Sprints
(April 4) - Marietta's women's varsity eight, which finished second at last year's MARC Championships, narrowly defeated defending MARC Champion Mary Washington in the petite final at yesterday's Occoquan Sprints. The Pioneers finished in 8:02.3 to the Eagles 8:03.01. Other MARC results at the Occoquan Sprints included Mary Washington winning the men's pair and Rutgers-Camden winning its heat of the men's varsity four. Earlier in the weekend, Washington College's women won two races and its men took three of four against Philadelphia U, while North Park's experience at the Lubbers Cup was highlighted by a first-place finish in the women's second novice four.
Murphy Cup Features Several MARC Crews
(March 27) - Washington College took first place in the Division II/III women's varsity eight at yesterday's Murphy Cup. Franklin & Marshall (third) and Bryn Mawr (fifth) also reached the final of the same event. On the men's side, Washington College took second in the men's varsity pair and sixth in the men's novice eight. Both Washington and Franklin & Marshall reached the petite final of the men's varsity eight.
Bryn Mawr Rows Past Richard Stockton in First Head-to-Head MARC Action this Spring
(March 20) - Bryn Mawr and Richard Stockton opened their spring schedules against each other with a dual regatta on Saturday. Bryn Mawr won both the varsity eight and varsity four races by wide margins.
Washington College Opens Spring with Wins Over Clark
(March 14) - Washington College opened its spring schedule with a home regatta against Clark on Saturday. The Shoremen won both of their races - the varsity eight and second varsity eight, while the Shorewomen won all three of their races - the varsity eight, second varsity eight, and varsity four.
